Sandwich Republican Town Committee

The Oldest Town on Cape Cod

Sandwich has governed itself by Town Meeting since 1639. We’re the Republicans of Cape Cod’s first town — recruiting, promoting, and electing leaders who defend the conservative values that built it, for the families and future of Sandwich.

Cape Cod’s First Town · Est. 1637

Self-government started here. We’re fighting to keep Sandwich a place where the people — not the bureaucracy — still decide, embracing Faith, Family & Freedom.

Our Principles

Country & Heritage

A strong sense of pride in our country and our heritage, and America’s enduring role as leader of the free world.

Government Closest to the People

Government “of, by, and for the people” that minimizes its intervention in citizens’ lives — promoting individual responsibility, initiative, and free enterprise.

Family, Character & Integrity

The strengthening and defense of the family, and government grounded in good character and personal integrity.

We are the Sandwich Republican Town Committee. Our members come from every walk of life — varied careers, backgrounds, and ages — united in our commitment to the Constitution and to electing Republican candidates for local, county, state, and national office. All Republicans and Independents are welcome. Our upcoming meetings are listed above and on our Meetings page. Want to know what’s happening in Town government this week? See our Town Meetings page.

“Taxation without representation is tyranny.”

James Otis Jr. of West Barnstable, Cape Cod’s own voice of the Revolution. Sandwich is the oldest town on Cape Cod, settled in 1637. In March 1774 its Town Meeting voted that the tea duty was “a Tax upon us without our consent and therefore unconstitutional,” and that September Sandwich patriots raised a Liberty Pole and marched on the Barnstable courthouse — shutting the King’s court on Cape Cod without firing a shot. Self-government started early here — and we still hold that power belongs to the people.
